The #1 bike for the average mountain biker!!!!

Its a great bike for pretty much everything!!!!!
I use this bike for racing (believe me it's easy to ride fast on this bike) and leisure biking. It has an extremely balanced feel to it because of its wide handle bars and knobby tires. I got the orange model and FYI it's an absolutely awesome color. Its suspension is extremely nice which gives it a very smooth ride.

The hills do seem not as steep on a 29er

I ride on mountain bike trails and forest service roads in Dupont state park and in Bent Creek NC. The bike Shifts good,brakes well with no noise.No problems so far not even a flat. I think this bike is a good value.

Good bike - weak suspension

First off, I have to say I knew what I was getting, and that was an entry level bike with entry level suspension, but at least it had the double wall rims which pushed me to the 2017 Marlin 6. Had I known how bad the forks were with the kind of riding I like to do, jumps and drop-offs, I would have saved some more money to get a better bike for my type of riding. The two things that bother me are: when pulling up on the handlebars for a jump or drop-off is the obvious clunk of the forks reaching max extension and the clunking of the rear derailer hitting the cassette and that is what it is. I have seen numerous threads about people saying it's the chain hitting the chainstay, it's not. It makes the same clunking sound when the bike is stationary and I take my finger and flip the derailer against the cassette, it's that weak. Happy with my purchase? Maybe not, happy with the bike overall, I believe so, if that makes sense. Good brakes and shifts well.

Great Bike

Bought this bike couple weeks ago from Fresh Air Experience. Greg was amazing helping me out. Had the bike looked over, lubed and adjusted before I left. Rode alot when I was younger, getting back into it in my forties to get much needed exercise to lose weight and be active. Everything works as it should. The Trek bike performed extremely well with my extra pounds. Only issue was the seat was to narrow and stiff for my bone structure. I swapped it out after my 2nd ride for a; Serfas Road/MTB RX-921V. And this saddle combination and bike is amazing! I've been riding everyday since it was brought home.

Not Worth The Price But Fine

Have had this bike for 2 months, fine for the first but now the problems start. Was riding road one day and the front tire decided to wobble loose. Also riding regular road, and using my front brake nicely and not harsh, the front caliper warped and not looking forward to replacing. This bike is overpriced, the shifting is horrible, the only reason it's so much is for the hydraulics, so just get the Marlin model before this for the same bike but with cable brakes if you're new and don't ride hard.

Such a smooth ride, ridden on roads and trails. Shifting from 1st to 2nd in the front setup takes about 5 seconds which is a huge downside. Seat kills, but ohterwise everything is a plus to this bike, love it and suggest it for many newbies or even experienced.

1st Mountain Bike

First time mountain trail rider - the seat had to go - replaced with a gel, although on a trail I am not on my seat much. Feel confident on this bike, love the 29" wheels which seem to ride over roots with ease, hadn grips are big and comfortable. The number of gears is overkill for this bike. I wish the forks locked out for pavement rides.

Good bike for long distance travel

(Never drove the bike with the original equipment) Upgraded this bike with a Shimano Deore Hollowtech 48t crankset, Shimano Deore derailleurs, Sram chain, black Welgo magnesium pedals with nylon toe clips and created an excellent XC mountain bike. Purchased the black with green version, and have driven it quite comfortably for various 40-60 mile treks. After a single 7 hour trip, my opinion is that the bike performed very well. Rolls very good, has nice geometry for the 18.5" version. The slight size difference for the 29er Marlin seems to have been well engineered. Excellent value for someone wishing to build a custom bike.

Marlin 6 after a month of using

i had an small in size 13.5' with 27.5 tire, i was wishing i can get the 29' . needed the better seat and 175mm crand arm (mine 170mm) needed bigger changeling gears and better paddle. bottom line with the same pricy$ i have a lot of other choice and better bikes for the money

Good bike

Over all good bike. Took to elm creek today for its first ride on a trail and it held up quit well and road fast the only down side was that the shifter was supperrr stickey and would drop really hard once it did shift it also was sorta hard to get comfortable on but other than that it worked really well

Great Bike!

Best Uses:
Needed an upgrade, bought this at the Ellicott City store. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all my questions. I tested this and a comparable Scott. Both were nice. This frame just fit me better. I did change the grips and added some toe clip pedals. Other than that, it was great through the trails. Loved the larger 29" wheels which does make it easier to roll over rocks/sticks/logs especially on the uphill portions. The front shock has a lot of travel. The bike is light. I am not a fan of the seat. Then again, I don't think I like any of them that come stock. I changed out the one on my old bike as well, and I'll be changing this one too. However, I haven't been riding much, so it may be something I could get used to. Other than that, I can say that 24 gears is an overkill. I was able to get there on the road, but honestly didn't need it, and can't imagine when I would use it unless you're going downhill as it's so high, you would need some strong legs to get to it on the flats, and I can't imagine it would be possible on any trail.

This is a great bike. I bought one for myself. I've rode it 65 miles in a week so far and plan to ride many more. I also bought my wife the 17.5 " Marlin 6 I put a gel seat on it for her and she loves it.

First time I've ever owned a quality bike. This bike flys through the trail up or down. Extremely light, smooth feeling when riding. Only thing I was told is the single wall wheels but for a fun/mild rider, this bike is amazing! For the price this is the one to buy, hydraulic discs are worth it.
